Sometimes modest and small projects for the likeminded clients can be the most rewarding. The brief called for some additional space for a growing family in their duplex on a very tight block. From the outset, the driving principle was to "build only what we need, and make the best of what we already have". The response was to minimise circulation and layer multiple functions into rooms to make the most of the existing floor plate. A small, North facing addition to the rear delivers additional living space and facilitates Passive Solar design.
