Watsonia North Primary School - New Middle School Building

Our journey with Watsonia North Primary School began with a full campus masterplan in late 2021. Stage 1 of that masterplan to be fully designed, documented and constructed, was identified as a new Middle School Building for years 3-4.

The stand alone building comprises a new, central informal learning area which connects a series of six classrooms - paired for team teaching capability, a fantastic new STEAM workshop, staff workspace, small group learning room, and gender-neutral amenities.

The tree cutout symbolises the Manna Gum, a culturally significant tree to the local Wurundjeri People. The Wurundjeri People take their name from their Woiwurrung language word ‘Wurun’ meaning the Manna Gum (Eucalyptus viminalis) which is common along ‘Birrarung’ (Yarra River), and ‘djeri‘, the grub which is found in or near the tree.

The wall cladding is Gold GreenTag Certified Weathertex which is contributing a tactile element to the space, and is a more sustainable alternative to plasterboard.

This project is currently at Tender. We are excited to release some more images once we have tenders confirmed. Stay tuned!
